Questions, answered.
When does StateSwap launch?
We're targeting Fall 2026 at Penn State. Waitlist members get access first, ahead of the public launch. We'll email you with the exact date once it's locked in.
Is this officially affiliated with Penn State?
No. StateSwap is built by Penn State students but is not endorsed by, operated by, or officially affiliated with The Pennsylvania State University. We just use .edu verification to make sure everyone on the platform is a real student.
How much does it cost?
Free for students. No listing fees, no transaction fees, no premium tier. We're focused on building the community first.
How is this different from Facebook Marketplace or OfferUp?
Three things: every user is a verified Penn State student (no randoms from 200 miles away), listings are filtered to people on your campus, and student businesses and services are actually welcomed — not flagged as "commercial activity."
Will StateSwap expand to other schools?
Yes — Penn State is just the start. Once the experience is solid here, we'll roll out campus by campus. If you go to a different school and want it next, tell us when you join the waitlist.
How do payments work?
StateSwap doesn't process payments. You arrange a meetup with the seller through the app and pay however you both prefer — cash, Venmo, Apple Pay. Lower fees, less friction.
